GSE 14/09 Pay Cuts

Please see enclosed copies of GS Circular no’s 04/09 and 07/09 in relation to eircom’s decision to seek a 5% pay cut from its general workforce.

The Union’s position in relation to pay cuts is unchanged in that there will be no change to members basic pay or pension without a ballot of the membership.  This has been made absolutely and abundantly clear to eircom management and any attempts by them to portray that this Union has some way agreed to a pay cut is completely without basis. 

We cannot prevent the company seeking such cuts on a voluntary basis but it is the CWU’s strongly held view that members have suffered sufficient losses through increased taxation and through the recent eircom Accord.

I trust this clarifies the CWU’s views on this matter once and for all.
