Please find attached for your information a copy of a letter circulated under the guise of Gaelic Telecom to Gaelic Football and Hurling Clubs throughout the country.  You will be aware from previous correspondence that the Telecommunications Company Imagine who front Gaelic Telecom have been developing relationships with various Gaelic Football clubs for a number of years.

The purpose of this circular is to ask members to be vigilant within their own GAA Clubs in relation to this matter.  I do not believe it would be in our best interests to raise it in each club in the country as we may just end up providing Imagine with free advertising but given the involvement of CWU members on a voluntary basis throughout these clubs, I believe we are in a position to block these initiatives on the basis that they will lead to further threats against the employment of many activists within the GAA family.  I am also aware that on a number of occasions our members have successfully blocked this initiative but given the present economic circumstances it is easy to understand why GAA Clubs would be attracted.  I will in the meantime attempt to convince eircom that maybe they too should try to occupy this space.
