How to Claim Tax Credit for Union Subscriptions PDF Print E-mail

Tax relief is available on subscriptions paid up to € 300 this equates to a tax credit of €70.

If you are/were a member of a Trade Union, at any time during the tax years 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005 and you have not been granted relief for subscriptions made, you can contact Revenue to claim tax credits

To claim your Tax Credit online go to www.revenue.ie - On Home Page Click On Claim Your Refund
On Claims for Tax Credits and Reliefs page click on Union Subscriptions
           Then click on  How do I claim
Write to your local Revenue office to make a claim for previous years (see Contact Locator below). You can also claim this relief for the current year on-line or by sending a text message using your mobile phone
Where do I send my claim?
If you wish to make a claim you can use your PPS number (your tax reference number) to find the appropriate Revenue postal address in our Contact Locator
Trade union subscriptions
To claim a tax credit for trade union subscriptions text:  (CREDIT      PPS-number      UNION) to 51829.

For example, if your PPS number is 1234567A and you want to claim a tax credit for trade union subscriptions simply text: CREDIT 1234567A UNION to 51829. There is no need to specify an amount as a standard €70 tax credit is granted to all successful claimants. You will receive text messages letting you know the progress of your claim. Once the claim has been successfully processed you will get a new Tax Credit Certificate in the post (it will be sent to the address we have for you). The claim may be subject to verification checks.
