You will be aware that last year was the first year that term time was no longer treated as a pilot scheme and was rolled out across the Company as policy.

The term time policy provides for a review of the scheme and it is the Union’s intention to commence this review with the Company in the coming weeks. In advance of
engagement with the company we are seeking feedback from Branches on any issues or difficulties experienced, which will be then considered as part of the Union’s s agenda for discussion with the company.

However, I must point out that any proposed changes could only take affect from 2010 onwards. Our main priority this year is to ensure that the scheme is available to staff from an early stage in order that applications are dealt with in a timely manner, deductions are calculated correctly and appeals are managed properly.

Any Branches intending to make submissions should return them to Carol Scheffer by the 29th August 2008.
