I wish to advise that agreement has been reached with the Company for the cessation of the CAD project (formerly Geo Directory Project) and the establishment of a permanent CAD maintenance function within Mails Operations.

Attached for your information is a copy of the agreement, the main points of which are as follows:

The CAD database will be maintained by a centrally managed dedicated team
The CAD structure will be made up of six areas, each with a dedicated Maintenance Team Leader
Where there is an existing CAD Supervisor at Overseer level in these areas he/she will be appointed to the Team Leader Post
Vacant supervisory posts will be filled by competitive selection process which, in the first instance will be advertised among all existing CAD staff in the particular area.
Twenty three Validator positions will be established as follows
Mullingar   3
Sligo/Galway   5
Naas   4
Cork   4
Dublin   4
Limerick  3
The twenty three full time Validator positions will be established at ‘Clerk’ pay scale as set out in the Clerical and Admin agreement
Existing CAD staff currently graded at POC level will remain at POC level. All other existing CAD staff, currently in receipt of a Validator allowance, who attain a Validator post will exceptionally be graded at POC on a ‘personal to holder’ basis.
Validator positions will be filled by competitive selection process which, in the first instance will be from among existing CAD staff assigned within each area, subject to qualifications and suitability.

Based on concerns raised by the Union it has been exceptionally agreed with the Company to leave the most senior of the unassigned CAD project staff in the Galway region in place on a temporary basis for six months, following which, any requirement for any further assistance in the that region can be assessed.

A copy of the attachment can be obtained from Head Office.
