GSP 43/07 - Clerical Stream Agreement

I attach for your information a recommendation issued by the Expert Group in respect of a number of Residual Clerical issues arising from various Change Agreements. I am pleased to advise you that the Executive has accepted this recommendation.

The main features of the agreement are as follows:

Reduction to 40 the number of Post Offices for conversion
Substantial increase in pay for Retail Clerks
Payment of 12½% Allowance from 1st December 2003 for the Clerical Stream working in the Collection and Delivery area
Extension of options for Staff/Branch Manager where offices are designated for conversion
Agreement to introduce the Post Offices Regional Structure
Agreement that the Company provide suitable work, in their own area for staff impacted by the changes
Provision for a general review of leave in lieu arrangements
Retention for Post Office staff of Leave in Lieu on a “personal to holder” basis pending such review
Absence cover, extra attendance and allocation of leave remain consistent with existing arrangements in Retail Units

The Union is satisfied this meets the Union’s objectives and resolves a number of outstanding issues for our Clerical members.
