CWU and BT Ireland attend Meeting at the LRC PDF Print E-mail
Monday, 16 July 2007

The CWU had its first meeting at the Labour Relations Commission (LRC) with BT management on Monday 9th July. In what was a somewhat productive meeting, the CWU set out a range of issues that were raised by members at various meetings that were held in recent months.

The meeting, which lasted all day, concluded on the basis that the advisory service of the LRC would present both sides with a summary of their respective positions which could be reflected on before the CWU decides what steps to take next.

Whilst the Union cannot detail what has been agreed until the LRC text has been finalised, I can confirm that progress has been made on the following:

  • the issue of union representation on individual matters
  • the issue of appeals arising from the role mapping/job family process

On the issue of union recognition the company has indicated that it will not recognise the CWU as the representative body for staff.

Further communications will issue on these matters when the LRC text had been finalised.
