Firstly let me begin by welcoming you if you are one of the huge number of O2 staff who, in recent days, has made the decision to join with the rest of your colleagues and become a member of the Communications Workers’ Union.

The response from O2 staff to the Union’s invitation to attend meetings and join up has been very impressive and shows that there is a strong sense of solidarity among you all – and that is to your collective credit.  It is the best way for you to ensure that you get a fair deal out of this most serious piece of change which represents a fundamental change in your working lives and your future careers.

I attach for your consideration a copy of the letter that was sent to Ms Theresa Murray and others on Friday last.  It clearly sets out the Union position on the Telefonica Code of Conduct (copy of same attached).

I would like to again thank those of you who could attend the meetings in such strong numbers and to extend special thanks to those of you who have offered their assistance at this important time.  It is vitally important for all members to invite their colleagues to join with them and become members of the Union to ensure that everyone’s long term interests are properly represented and well protected into the future.  To that end I enclose an application form and I would ask that you invite a friend to join at this vital time in everyone’s career in O2.
