The Postal Executive, following careful consideration, has decided to recommend acceptance to our members who are comprehended by these proposals.  The main features of the Labour Court Finding are:

Pay

  • Payment of a 12.5% non consolidated allowance (83.67% pensionable) to be paid in two phases, to staff comptehended by the Agreement as outlined in Appendix 1 

              Phase 1 – 50% paid on acceptance retrospective to the 1st December 2003
              Phase 2 – 50% to be paid six months later retrospective to the 1st December 2003

  • Where an employee in receipt of the allowance is promoted to a grade other than Fleet Inspector, Overseer, Superintendent 1 or Superintendent 2, payment of the allowance will there upon cease. In such cases, the allowance will be taken into account in applying existing starting pay regulations for the purpose of calculating starting pay on promotion.
  • Salary review for Management Grades
  • Income Protection Scheme for extra duty payment
  • New Clerical Pay Scale
  • €395 per week x (9 x €20) to €575 per week

Staffing

 

 Managers

  • Retention of higher level Management Posts
  • Regrading of DSM (Cluster Subs) at Superintendent 2 level
  • Existing job holders to remain in place and seniority to apply where the number of posts are to reduce.
  • Retention of overtime for Management Grades pending completion of Management Salary Review

Post Office Clerks

  • Clerical positions filled by duty competition based on seniority
  • Overtime can be a feature in the areas comprehended by the proposals

Regional Structure

  • Surplus staff in Area Offices due to close must be accommodated with suitable work in their own areas.Following acceptance, discussions will take place between the Company and the Union to determine the work to be provided which is to be completed within three months

Central Address Database (CAD)

  • Establishment of core staffing requirements, to be concluded within six months.

Long Term Actors

  • Staff acting for two years or more in Management / supervisory grades on the commencement date will be appointed
