At a meeting of the Joint Conciliation Council (JCC) of An Post today, the Trade Union Coalition Group Representatives were introduced to the new Chief Executive of An Post, Mr Donal Connell. During the meeting, Mr Connell announced that as a result of recent representations from the CWU, and in consultation with An Post Chairperson and the Senior Management Team, that it has been agreed to recommend to the Board of the Company, payment of the outstanding monies due to all staff and pensioners (€20m in total) under the terms of the Sustaining Progress National Agreement. While many serious challenges face our members in An Post, no one can deny that this decision is a very good start by the new CEO and hopefully will lead to the development of a more positive relationship between the Union and the Management, which will be of critical importance if we are to deal with those challenges and the difficult change programmes that lie ahead of us. I would like to take this opportunity to thank all of our Union activists and members for their patience and support, which ultimately has achieved full payment of Sustaining Progress, without any loss of pay. |
